Richard: How did you join the creative team on "Jenna Blue"?

Steve: Tried out for one book Jason was writing. My style didn’t fit what they were looking for with that one but Jason gave me the script for Jenna. Eventually the book had a home with Outlaw Ent. and I’m stoked to be a part of this new company.

Richard: What personality will your art give to Jenna?

Steve: It’s not so much about the personality of my work but the whole team’s work that makes it a cool looking book. Jason’s story takes a pretty serious approach to an out-there idea. While the story takes a realistic tone, my pencils are somewhat stylized and cartoony. And then Ciaran Lucas pulls it all together in monochromatic tones with the only colors in the book being blood and Jenna’s skin.

Richard: Can you tell us the basic storyline?

Steve: Blue, who is a kick-ass assassin, has an extremely rare disease that makes her skin blue. After a few of her targets end up having the same disease, she decides to look into why she is being made to kill off other people like her. What she finds may just have a connection to the events that took place in Roswell in the 1940’s.

Richard: Will you get to draw any creatures in this graphic novel?

Steve: Well, without giving too much away, there is talk in the book of Roswell, New Mexico’s history. So you might be able to guess at the creatures I got to draw.

Richard: Why do you like to draw?

Steve: I don’t think I could ever not draw. Comic books have always been there to keep me out of trouble (...maybe not all the time).

Richard: What was your first published art?

Steve: Jenna will actually be my first book. Although I have ten pages in the back of "CKY- The Comic" which is coming out this summer as well.

Richard: What genre do you prefer to draw?

Steve: I like to read comics in all genres so I guess I’d like to draw in all genres. I do enjoy drawing some good old fashioned violence, though.

Richard: What was your contribution to "CKY-The Comic!"?

Steve: Almost two years ago I drew a ten page back-up story. The book hung in limbo for a while but is back on track because the band reunited. The book is about the group fighting a horde of zombies (written by Dave Mowery drawn by Joshua Emerick) and my part is CKY’s rules to surviving a zombie invasion.

Richard: What will you be working on next?

Steve: I just starting on my second book with Jason and Outlaw called "Killing for Dummies". It is a hilarious (and violent...) script and is going to be a ton of fun to draw.

Richard: What comic book would you most like to draw?

Steve: As boring a fanboy response as this is, I’d have to say Wolverine. If not for the simple fact that as a kid growing up drawing comics that was always the goal. One of those kick ass riding his bike in a beat up leather jacket kicking the crap out of a thousand ninjas type stories.

Richard: Do you ever fantasize about the characters you draw?

Steve: Ummmm...don’t feel comfortable revealing that kind of info :)

Richard: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

Steve: Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash for the music to keep me drawing. All my favorite artists from my younger days for teaching me storytelling. And my wife for teaching me how to focus my energies.

Richard: How can someone contact you?

Steve: Anyone can email me at crookstreet152@hotmail.com or get in touch with me through my webcomic user profile at www.gamervision.com . Check out Tommy and His Portable Gaming Device

Richard: Any words of wisdom?

Steve: Keep at it. All I’ve wanted to do for my whole life is draw comics. I’ve tried my best to stay dedicated and now I have my first published book coming out. I’ve got a long way to go to get to where I want but I’ll keep on working at it.
